Do you know... About the Omega Juicer Company?

The Omega Products Family has been in business and using the same factory since 1958. The owner and President, Mr. Robert Leo has been in the business since 1971. Mr. Leo was President of the Acme Juicer Company from 1978 through 1984, when the company was sold to the Waring Corporation. Mr. Leo then started Olympic Products in 1985 using the same factory in operation since 1958. The Corporation ran as Olympic Products for roughly 2 years then changed its name to Omega products, Inc.

Throughout the years, juicer companies have come and gone, but Omega has been a leader in the industry throughout, mostly because their design WORKS.

The vertical axis "Centrifugal Force" juicers (Models 1000,4000 & 9000) use the masticating process (chewing and grinding) to reduce fruits or vegetables to the smallest size. This pulp is then spun onto a mesh screen or basket that holds the pulp while allowing the juice to be spun out. This type of juicer is always run at high speed.

Horizontal axis juicers can use teeth or gears (model 8000) to crush and grind while the juice is strained through a screen. The gear type juicers run at low speed and are the best way to extract juice from fine or leafy greens.

Vertical units that employ an angled basket (model 4000) are known as pulp ejectors. The angle will allow the pulp to roll up the wall of the basket and when at the top, be released into another container. This type may be more convenient to juice a larger array of fruits and vegetables at a somewhat non-stop fashion. They may be a little less efficient in extracting all of the juice from the pulp, but the yield is still good and the convenience of continual juicing may be more important.

Select Appliance recommends the use of the basket filters for model 1000 & 9000) for most juicing. After juicing about 1 quart and a half (varies on the pulp content) you will need to empty out the pulp that has collected in the basket. With a filter in place, cleaning can be a simple as unscrewing the blade holder and lifting out the filter (with pulp) in one easy motion. A little rinse and you're done. Note - Very wet fruits and vegetables like citrus and watermelon may work better without the filters. Enjoy!
